Hiding your IP is so easy, and free

Hiding your IP is so easy, and free

I’m going to show you two ways to do this and then you take the pick which serves you best.

The first way to change your address is through a Proxy this is what most of the software here on Demonoid does, but people ask you to download things that might harm your computer and possibly contain Key loggers or Trojans.

Very simply put a Proxy is like going through another ISP to surf the web in anonymity, you connect from your ISP which assigns all of us our IP
address and you connect to another computer/server with an open connection to the internet. By doing this that new gateway assigns you there IP address which will now be your IP address so when you visit sites through a proxy the sites you visit will see the proxies IP address and not yours.

Sound simple enough so far? If not don’t worry it’s not terribly important. So before I show you how to run your connection through a proxy a few things you should know about proxies.
We know that proxies can be used as anonymous gateways to to the internet but why are they there, who runs them and what are the risks? There there for many reasons, people can set them up so others can surf the net in privacy or there there because they have a bad IT department who forgot to close incoming connections or there universities or maybe even a honey pot which means it’s someone who wants to catch people passing sensitive information through there server like if you did on-line banking or visited a site where you had to type passwords.

The one rule you should never break when using a proxy is never ever visit sites where you pass over sensitive information like on-line banking always use your ISP connection for that.

You use proxies for visiting sites where you don’t want a record of your IP address left behind and also what you were doing or looking at left behind. For instance if you wanted to go to Google and type in how to grow marijuana and didn’t want any records that your IP address was looking up that information.

Google keeps track of your IP address and what it was your were looking at for a short period of time so it’s good for things like this.

However saying that proxies are not fool proof if your doing something illegal through a proxy authorities could go to the proxy and get records of when and who went through them and that would lead them to you.

You should use proxies to mask your IP to look at or research things where you don’t want your IP address left behind.

I like to use proxies from places like Russia, or Iran or somewhere where I know A:they don’t speak English and B:They won’t be as likely to cooperate with the authorities.

Right with that out of the way let’s set you up to start using proxies it’s really easy. This tutorial will assume your running the Latest Edition of Firefox but this does work in IE as well but IE sucks.

First what we want to do is let’s see what your IP address is so this way when we go through a proxy we can see my instructions are working.

In Firefox type in or copy and paste: http://www.whatsmyip.org/ So now you can see what your real IP address is. Now open a new tab crt+t or a new Firefox window. Type in this address: http://www.digitalcybersoft.com/ProxyList/ Now where it says Click here to get a list of Free Anonymous HTTP Proxies checked, yes click where it says click here. Where it says Proxies By Port: ALL 80 81 1080 3128 8000 8080 click on 8080 now you can experiment from this list whatever proxies you want from whatever port you want but for the sake of this tutorial click on 8080.

Right let’s pick a proxy, I’ll pick 119.70.40.101:8080 Ok so there are only two things were going to look at with this number firstly this IP address 119.70.40.101 and secondly this port 8080 you never ever use the colon : it’s just there to separate the IP address from the port number.

Now at the top of Firefox where it says Tools click on that then click on Options then click on Advanced then click on the Network Tab then click on the Settings Tab, now you should have a windows with four option that say, No proxy, Auto-detect, Use system, Manual proxy ok click on Manual proxy now where it says Http Proxy: put the proxy IP number 119.70.40.101 and where it says port put the port number 8080, where it says Use this proxy server for all protocols click on that.

That’s it done click ok on all the boxes and go back to: http://www.whatsmyip.org/ You should see that your new IP is: 119.70.40.101 this particular one is in Korea but most of the proxies don’t list where they are located the easiest way to find out is open up Google and it will display the language of where that IP address is.

Now if for any reason your connection is very slow or you can’t connect it may be because the proxy is down simply go back to the website and try another until you have a list of proxies that work great for you.

EASY!!

The second and also third way and by for the most secure way that uses encryption technology is to start using http://www.torproject.org/ you have to download there free software but it’s very good. The third way and also very very good is to start using http://www.i2p2.de/ for downloading and sharing stuff anonymously.

Well that’s it boys and girls I hope that teaches you all that masking your IP is totally free totally easy and you don’t need any software other than your web browser.

Oh remember that it’s easy to forget that you left your proxy running and not turn it off so don’t say I didn’t warn you if you start passing online passwords through a proxy and someone get’s into your account be safe.
